It's here, it's here!!!! Spring is Blooming at the Royal Port!

Happy Spring to All!  I feel like I can actually say that since today is a beautiful warm sunny Spring Day!  We have had a very busy March!  Busy in a good way.  We have had the opportunity to do a lot of barn, home and building salvage as well as an early general store clean out. Our new inventory includes everything from unusual early American country smalls and furniture to early house and barn salvage along with some great industrial and vintage.  In keeping up with the early industrial market we have been adding to our growing inventory in that area.  The warehouse carts, and bins are the perfect space for displaying our ever growing architectural inventory.   We are continuing to revamp our upstairs to accommodate our architectural and industrial inventory while maintaining a unique collection of early American antiques and smalls on our first floor.  With the warm weather we will be working outback in Picker's Field.  Our solar building is filled with many treasures waiting for the picking.  Our next road trip will be to Clover Market in Ardmore, PA. April 14th  It will be our first time setting up at this market. We Can't Call What We Do Work!

I sometimes catch myself telling customers about when I "used to work" in the printing field.  Not that we don't work now but when you work for yourself and get to do what you want it doesn't always warrant the label "work".  We did a lot of what we love to do these past few weeks.  We were able to do several house calls and a few salvage projects.  With the many bonds we create with our customers comes opportunities to buy.  Many times we work with those that are downsizing and moving to homes that can't house their collections or pieces of furniture.  We also get to save architectural elements that were slated for demolition and the dumpster.   So many of our customers seek out the early architectural elements for their homes.  And being in the business for 18 years we also get the chance to resell some of our favorite pieces again.  So this month take a minute to go through March's Album to see all of these scenarios.   I added over 40 photos but have many more to add.  We have lots of  items, especially architectural items,  waiting to be cleaned and tagged.  Please feel free to call or email with any questions.  Suzanne

Customer Creations! Renee Austermehle's Cathedral Wall DIsplay.

Renee and her husband purchased a cathedral window frame from the Royal Port a few years ago. When she mentioned it the other day I asked her to send me a photo.  This window had been salvaged from an old church in Clarksboro, NJ. With the high ceiling in their newer home Renee and her husband wanted to create a cozier area.  According to Renee, the arched window has been a great conversation piece and it certainly has helped them fill in their empty, tall wall.  They surrounded it with old ceiling tiles.  So many of our customers are looking for this type of idea for their high ceilings.  Thanks for the photo Renee!

Customer Creations! Steve Harris Shows Us Two of His Creations!

Steve and his wife purchased snow birds  and a  lamp post from the Royal Port last August and sent along some pictures of his creations.  The cast iron eagles, or snow birds, he purchased are from 1900-1910 and were designed to prevent the hazards of snow slides upon metal roof buildings by allowing snow and ice to melt or drop off safely.  Steve utilized them along with some scrap walnut to create some beautiful bookends.  I love how they came.  Steve also created a new mailbox  from a lamp post he purchased here.  He found a concrete base & a dummy bomb that he bought on-line. Steve shared that his wife was not too excited about the bomb!!   I can say it has an interesting look especially for those that collect military items.   I like how Steve utilized the early cast iron light post to make into a mailbox post.  I would be curious to know what the mail person thought on their first delivery to the bomb box!   Thanks for sharing your photos with us!
