It has been a busy beginning of the year. It was the start of our show season. We met a lot of new people at the Renningers, Elverson and Kimberton Shows. Hope to see some of you at the shop this Spring Season. Inventory has been coming and going. As a result we have been redoing a lot of the setups on both floors of the shop. We have been adding a large amount of architectural doors and windows as well as antique furniture and smalls.
For those of you familiar with the shop, you know we have a lot of chairs. We recently added several butterfly back windsors as well as a few rod back windsors. All are in beautiful condition. This assembled grouping looks beautiful around this early drop leaf table. Additional photos of the windsors can be found in the April photo album. Another great piece to the shop is this smaller 19th century one door over one door one piece corner cupboard. It is in excellent condition. Perfect for a smaller room. It's not often that we find a pair of family portraits.
This pair is marked on the back of each portrait with the Sitter's names. On further research I was able to confirm that the information is correct. They are James Manley, MD 1785-1851 and Petronella Manley, 1819-1850. They are both nicely done. She is very pleasing in her dress and appearance. He is a well documented Doctor and researcher.
We also added several dough boxes to our inventory. This larger pine dovetailed dough box is a perfect side table for any room. Its smaller counterpart was once a tabletop dough box. I think it makes a nice sofa or side chair table with storage. Both are in beautiful condition.
Switching to more architectural related inventory we acquired these local chimney cupboards. Each white painted cupboard has a panel door with built in shelving in a beautiful blue green paint.
If you are restoring an old home or building a new one, these would be a perfect addition to both. The mantel came from the same property. Add the three together to create a classic look in any space. Well that's just a taste of what we added to the shop. Make sure you look at the April Photo Album for more great finds. Feel free to email us with any questions. Have a great Spring. Suzanne
