Walking Ghost Tour of Salem City, NJ

On Friday, October 29th at 7pm the Rotary Clubs of Salem are having the 4th Annual Walking Ghost Tour of Salem City, NJ.  It is a very fun event.  The tour goes along Historic Market Street where guides tell tales of sightings along the way.  Everyone meets here at the Royal Port and gathers into groups on the porch. Tour goers meet back at the Royal Port for hot drinks, cider and baked treats.  It's a great community event.  The event benefits the Salem County Historical Society.   Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased here and at The Bank in Mannington.  Please feel free to call for additional information at 856-339-0400.  Hope to see you there.  Suzanne

 

Royal Port Joins the Fun Fair Antique Show at the Philadelphia Expo Center!

We added a show at the last minute to our schedule.  This weekend we are doing the Norm Schaut's Fun Fair Antiques Show at the Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA., 10am-8pm on Saturday and 10am-5 pm on Sunday.  As Norm says "This new event will be the place where folks with mutual interests gather to talk the talk … exchange their adventures … learn from the the world’s foremost dealers … get immediate answers to every question … hold that special treasure for close inspection … decorate or add to a collection with confidence. This enormity and diversity of the fine offerings are unequaled in the antiques world. The Royal Port is Exploding wih New Inventory in October!

I love how our shop looks this Fall.  I am our biggest critic when it comes to display, design and inventory!!  The shop is full of a  great selection of early pieces. Pictured is a 19th century tapered leg table with a pegged 2 board top and one drawer.  A beautiful piece.   The display on top of the table includes a grouping of our new smalls inventory including a 3 gallon salt glazed jug with a blue 3 script, a lidded jar, a beautiful divided carrier and a small dovetailed box (possibly a berry box).   This 19th century Sawbuck Table is a new favorite too.  It has a one board top as well as a trough style base.   Surrounding the table is a set of 6 paint decorated half spindle plank bottom chairs.  The center of the table contains an early tool carrier along with small early brown glazed jug and a one piece turned rolling pin.   Looking for a nice display piece.  This 19th century cupboard in early red paint is perfect for smalls including baskets, stoneware, quilts and much more.  On this cupboard are some new  smalls including the grain measures,  a nice copper, iron and brass bucket and a 3 gallon salt glazed jug.    The shovel is a new addition as well.  The next table we added is this beautiful one drawer drop leaf table with nicely turned legs.  It has a beautiful patina in original red paint.          The final table to be added this week is this early bench table with a white wash.  It displays nicely as a bench or as a table.  The white wash fits in perfectly with a primitive decor.   One of my favorite items to add to our inventory are the early slant front desks.  This tapered leg slant front desk is in red paint.  It's interior is divided and has 2 drawers.  These desks are great for hiding laptops and bills.  We also added several chairs including this early 19th century windsor armchair with a crest rail.  It still retains some of its original paint.  For those of you looking for instant relatives we have the guy for you.  This 19th century framed oil portrait on canvas is in nice condition. The sitter is unknown. ( I think he looks like a judge).   We are always adding to our quilt collection.  We just acquired this later 19th century crib quilt.  It is in nice condition.  I love the fabric selections in this quilt.  For those of you that follow us on facebook I will be adding additional photos of the new inventory as well as some shots from the shop.   Please feel free to call or email for addi tonal photos of anything you see on this site or on our facebook page.  The shop is full and ready!   Hope to see you soon.  Happy Fall!  Suzanne
