Royal Port's Customer Creation's Spotlight of the day Terry Commella!

I know, I know  I already featured Terry but on the day I posted his previous project these photos came through Royal Port's email.  I had to share this cool project.  Terry purchased the vented bottom windows from us to create a bell tower for a bell he purchased from us previously.  Terry Commella of the Terry Commella Design Studio relayed in his email the story of the bell and the windows.    "I bought the old bell from you a few years back but hadn't installed it yet.  The addition that the tower is on was a 1970's bridge between a 1760 tavern/now house and a 1860 barn.   It NEVER fit the house and was quite a challenge to make it blend.  New stucco, new windows, roof and gutters, shrubs and of course the bell tower."   Terry was able to take the windows he purchased, refurbish them, add the roof and weather vane plus install the bell.  It looks GREAT!!  I love it.  What a perfect use for those windows and a nice home for the bell.  Your home is beautiful!!

Royal Port's Customer Creation's Spotlight of the day Kim & Ray Cascarino!!

Today our Customer Creation's spotlight is on Kim & Ray Cascarino.  Kim & Ray spotted this pair of doors in the shop. They were a great over sized pair with an appealing color paint.   We measured and measured to make sure they would fit their opening.  They had the idea of using them as slider doors between a doorway opening.  The trick was getting the right hardware and hanging them.  They did a great job with the mount and slider hardware.   Kim & Ray are in a newer home in a development but are trying to make their house look older by adding architectural elements and furnishings seen in older homes.  I love how they look.  Thanks for sharing your project.  We get so many customers in newer homes that are looking for ways to add earlier elements to their rooms.  You accomplished it. 

Royal Port's Customer Creation's Spotlight of the day Kevin McLaughlin!!

I promised my friend Kevin I would blog about his sachets.  This definitely fits into our customer creations category.  Kevin, whose company is Mae Downs & Co., is an Interior Designer and an all round creative and talented guy.  You may have seen an earlier post about Kevin and the braided rugs.  Whenever Kevin stops by he is drawn to any early fabrics or threading that we have for sale at the Royal Port.  Kevin Created the Strawberry Sachets filled with French Lavender from vintage fabric from our shop.  (they are available for purchase at Bittersweet Farms in Salem)  They are so meticulously done.  Very beautiful.  Thanks for the photo Kevin!!

Royal Port's Customer Creation's Spotlight of the day Gilda Smoll!

So you're probably saying to yourself what is the deal with the old truck door?  What could someone do with that?   I had several customers ask me that.  Gilda Smoll knew her husband Mark loved this door at our shop.   As a surprise for Father's Day she came to get the door.  Keep in mind the door weighs a ton.  Gilda emailed us a photo of what she did with the door for her husband.  He loved it.  Thanks for the photo Gilda!  P.S. Salem's Farmer's Market Signs were done by Gilda too.  I love them!  Simple but great advertising.

Royal Port's Customer Creation's Spotlight of the day Sheldon Strober!

We sell a lot of gates and fencing at the Royal Port.  It's always fun to see how customers use the early hairpin fencing and gates in their gardens.  Sheldon Strober shared with us the surround he did using fencing from the Royal Port. The wood posts are a good substitution to iron ones.   He mixed iron fencing, wood posts and finials to create a nice fenced in area around his gardens.  Nice look!

Royal Port's Customer Creation's Spotlight of the day Terry Commella!

We get a lot of designers and decorators at the Royal Port.  One designer that visits us regularly is Terry Commella of the Terry Commella Design Studio.  Terry purchased one of my favorite mantels in the shop.  It was an early 19th century paneled front painted mantel in beautiful condition.  Terry made sure I got a photo of my favorite mantel installed in his clients home.  As you can see in the photo the 19th century mantel wasn't placed in an early colonial home but in a more contemporary setting.  What a great focal point for his client's room.  Terry's project is a good example of how early architecture and especially mantels can be used in a more modern setting and blend beautifully.  Thank you for sharing your room design with us.  Great job Terry! 

Royal Port's Customer Creation's Spotlight of the day Justin Short!

Today I want to share a project that one of our local contractors, Justin Short, did for one of our customers.  You may have seen Justin in customer creations from a previous post. Justin restored and installed a cupola for a customer.  Justin does a lot of restoration work and is called many times to restore and replicate architectural pieces.  Justin's latest request was from a customer who purchased a mantel from our shop but actually needed two of the same style for a single room.   Justin was able to replicate the early mantel, scrape down the old mantel, paint and install both mantels into the customer's home.  The mantels are both beautiful and look great against the customer's brightly painted walls.  We are anxious to see Justin's next project.  Here is a preview picture from a salvage project Justin did in conjunction with the Royal Port.  Justin dismantled an old gazebo and salvaged the beautiful metal roof.  He is going to construct a pool building for a customer using the older metal roof.  Can't wait to see the finished product.  Keep up the great work Justin. 

Royal Port's Customer Creations Photos are Overflowing!! Featured Customers of the Day Dan & Rita!

I am a bit behind on sharing customer creations so I thought I'd blog about them this week before I post them under the creations link.  I will be focusing on a customer a day. Customers purchased items discussed from the Royal Port Antiques. I am always amazed at how our customers use the architectural elements as well as the antique items from our shop.  Our top customer creations contributors are Rita & Dan.   Rita is always coming up with some great ideas for Dan to make or install for her.  One of the latest projects started with their purchase from us of 2 paneled doors.  It started as a blank wall and ended up with a mounted cabinet created by Dan with the panel doors.  The small cabinet added additional storage in the kitchen for cooking and baking items.  I love how the cupboard stands out against the mustard painted wall.   I also wanted to share with you the nook Rita & Dan created with an incubator, chicken crate and tractor grill that they had purchased at the Royal Port.  (the can and sifter look familiar too)  From time to time we pick up early industrial lighting.  Dan installed one in their kitchen  and it looked great.  They picked up another one that Dan refurbished and used to highlight an old farm sign they picked up from Royal Port at an earlier visit.  I love the use of the existing lamp post to extend it from the wall to spot the sign.  How perfect a fit.  Love the wall color as a backdrop.  And to top it off Rita sent us a photo of her newest herb garden in the galvanized double tubs on a stand that she picked up earlier in the summer.  Thanks so much for sharing your creative ideas Rita & Dan!!  Keep having fun!  Suzanne
