Salem County Historical Society Open House Tour this Weekend!

This weekend the Salem County Historical Society is hosting their Annual Open House Tour.  It is Saturday, April 24th from 10am - 4pm.  The tour features some of Salem County's Finest Historic Homes, Sites and Architecture.  Spend a Spring Day touring Salem County's beautiful countryside while you enjoy the local Historic Homes and Buildings.  Click on the link above for the Historical Society's website to view the tour booklet.  Tickets are available at the Royal Port Antiques.  Call or email if you need additional information.  Hope to see you Saturday.  Suzanne

New Inventory is Sprouting up at the Royal Port!

Spring has sprung outside and inside the Royal Port.  Mike and I have been moving and shaking to get ready for the Spring season.  We've been adding furniture and smalls as well as architectural pieces throughout the shop.  New to the shop is this beautiful step back cupboard.  I had fun pulling items from throughout the shop as well as adding new pieces to fill the shelves.   The new items include a branded pantry box and several butter scoops, along with several yellow ware bowls and an advertising box.   We added several beautiful windsor chairs to our already huge collection of chairs.  They include this birdcage back painted windsor armchair and four butterfly back windsors with bamboo turnings.  All are in good condition.  One of my favorite new setups in the shop is the tavern table along with some pewter and tinware.   In the backdrop is a beautiful painted door in frame.  The windsor chairs are two of the chairs noted above.  The candle sits under an old gas lamp globe in the center of the table.  The setup is waiting for 2 patrons, some ale and a little food to complete the setting. (Maybe the Kimbers will dress up for us and sit for a photo)  The Tavern table, chairs and door are all new to the shop.   Another item that is always a favorite in the shop is the cradle.  We have a large inventory of many styles of cradles.  This painted bonnet top cradle is a new favorite.  It's very graceful in its style.  Its bonnet is beautifully hand dovetailed.  It is in excellent condition.    If you are looking for a jelly cupboard this 2 drawer over 2 door is a nice chunky size with nicely turned feet.  It has a warm patina.  They kept the good stuff in the right drawer with the lock.
