Snow, snow and more snow. It has been a crazy month but we have been able to buy some great new things between snowflakes. While snowed in at the shop, Mike, Sammy and I have been busy redecorating and adding new inventory. One of my new favorite things in the shop is this painted dovetailed slant front desk on a stand. This is an early stand with pegged construction and a cross brace. The divided drawer goes the depth of the piece. The back of the desk allows space for small collectibles like the 2 nice pieces of stoneware pictured.
If you are into history and ancestry you will enjoy this early painted immigrants or shipping crate. The early box boasts nice details including heavy strap hinges, iron handles and nicely done lettering.
The box was headed to Caroline Gluck via Hamburg to New York. It is a very pleasing box for anyone's collection. At the Royal Port as well as when we had our shops in Mullica Hill, long tables were always the most requested items in the shop. We are always in search of nice tables of any size. We recently put two larger tables in the shop.
The mustard painted table is 8' x 34" and came from Richman's Ice Cream . It was used as a meeting table. It is in good condition as well as a great piece of Salem County History. The other painted table is 6' x 30" with nicely turned legs. This was probably used as a work table. I think both would make nice sideboards or work tables as well as nice retail display pieces.
One of our second most requested items is the center island. We have sold many items over the years that were used as work stations or center islands. Old work benches make nice center islands. The one pictured is deeper than the norm and has a nice center well. I had fun decorating this as a kitchen p
iece. The rolling pins fit nicely in the well. Towels can be hung from the clamps on each side. Another great item to the shop that is a favorite of ours for a center island or work surface is the chicken incubator. This one is larger. The legs can be adjusted lower for a better center island height. The bins in the front drop down for some great storage. Potatoes, vegetables, towels, pots and pans or whatever suits you. I can see little wire or wicker baskets slid underneath for even more storage. This is a great conversation piece.
If you are looking for a nice country chest or bin we have it. This mustard painted chest with a panel front is beautiful. It offers storage space as well as a nice space for displaying your country stoneware or treenware. The height allows it to be used for multiple purposes. Clear it off for extra space when company is coming over. Can you tell I like this chest?
To compliment this chest we also acquired this mustard cupboard. They were not found together but they would look great in the same home. It was once used as a wardrobe but had shelving added for great storage. There is a nice bulky drawer on the bottom. I can picture this in any room in the house.
Another nice storage/ display piece is this step back dry sink. This is a 2 piece cupboard with one drawer and two panel doors. The display area is perfect for any collection. I thought it would be beautiful with a background of smaller pewter plates along with some decorated stoneware. I've added decoys, wooden bowls, a basket and yellow ware for a pleasing display.
Another nice desk to the shop is this pine one with 3 drawers. I placed a youth chair with it that was already in the shop. I had fun decorating this with some smalls. The child's toolbox with contents is also new to the shop. I can picture my Sammy doing homework on this. It would make a great kitchen desk or a great place to hide a laptop and pull out when in use.
Don't worry we did bring some smaller antiques into the shop too. We love old games. This old wooden bean bag game toss is hinged for playing. It is in beautiful condition ready for that backyard carnival.
The old coffee tin was a nice compliment to the tartar one that we had in the shop. It has a hinged lid. Great storage piece for the kitchen or add to your advertising collection. It is in nice condition and vibrant in color.
The shop was in need of more stoneware. The pieces we found are very beautiful. The 3 gallon crock has a beautiful shape to it
along with a decorated 3 and a decorated handle. This is one of my favorites. The stoneware jar from Chester County, PA is also in beautiful condition with nicely done decorations.
The third piece is a vendors jug from Lehman & Co in Elizabeth, NJ. The jug is in very good condition with pleasing writing to the face of it. That is it for today. We also put a lot of new architectural pieces in the shop including doors, windows, panels, shutters and strap hinges. Our first show of the season is next weekend at the Renninger's Indoor Show in King of Prussia, PA., February 27th and 28th. Stop by to see us. Don't forget to become a fan of Royal Port on Facebook. You'll get all of this sites updates the day they're posted. Stop in and get rid of that cabin fever. Suzanne
