Royal Port at Kutztown's Renningers Extravaganza!!!

We recently decided to do the Renningers Extravaganza in Kutztown, PA.  this week. (April 23-24)  We have wanted to do the show for a long time.  With the  House Tour on Saturday we decided to do just Thursday and Friday.  It's a great show for searching out antiques and collectibles.   It's one of those shows that true antiquers (Paul V.) go sun, rain, snow or sleet.  Luckily the weather is expected to be very nice.  Mike's busy loading up today.  I took a few shots of the truck and trailer.  I told him it looked like a true Renningers truckload full of Mike's Funky Finds.  If you are going, make sure you look for Mike.  He's space 3501.  Have fun!

Royal Port on Ebay!!

From time to time I like to put a few things on EBAY.  It is fun to see what people are interested in and to introduce new customers to our shop.  Last week I listed a few small items that I thought would be interesting so I thought I'd share a link to them.  A few of the items are good whatisits???  They are conversation pieces.  Take a peek. 

Also don't forget next Saturday is the Salem County Historical Society House Tour.  Some great homes will be open as well as several historic sites and the Society itself.  We have tickets at the shop.  If you are going, stop by the shop for some refreshments or if you need help mapping out your route.  We'll be decorating our porch with some fun ideas for the porch and garden. Antiques for the Garden at the Royal Port!!!

On this beautiful sunny day I thought it was appropriate to blog about antiques and collectibles for the porch or garden.  Today I am going to concentrate on ironware and gates.   Pictured are a sampling of our inventory of early iron window gates, driveway gates and decorative elements.   The window gates make a nice statement as a wall hanger on an outbuilding, porch or shed.  Many of our customers use several of them together to create a nice edging in their flower beds.  They work well inside or out.  Another one of our customers recently purchased some of our window gates to use for hanging coats.  They used the bottom curl of the gate as hooks for their coats.   The larger pieces of fencing or gates make a nice backdrop for climbing flowers, as the entrance to a property or even as a gate to a wooden fence.    The large pair pictured are new to the shop.  They are in nice condition and have some interesting decorative elements.  Also throughout the shop we have a nice grouping of decorative iron pieces.  We think at one time they were porch ornamentation.  They are very beautiful and very heavy.   The last item that I photographed was an old tiller blade.  We have sold a lot of these blades over the years in different styles.  When we start creating our gardens behind the Royal Port I would love to line them up as a border to a garden.  I think it would make a neat statement with perennials flowing over them.  For those reading this blog, who have purchased gates and fencing, I need your digital photos.  Show us your creations.  I would like to share your ideas by adding them to our customers creations link on the blog.  Enjoy the weather.  Suzanne

Just in to the Royal Port!!!

We just brought in two fun items that I wanted to share with you.   We at the Royal Port try to be up to the minute with posting new things.  We don't want anyone missing out.  We tell our customers all the time to check the site for new things.  With the blog site it allows us to be more up to the minute reporting of new inventory.  With Spring here you may want to get ready for the carnival season.  This carnival wheel measures 42" in diameter.  It is a large one probably from the first quarter of the 20th century.  Great bold numbers and paint decoration.  Would make a nice focal piece for any family or game room.  Another unusual piece that is new to the shop is this Advertising Roxy Theater 2 sided bike rack.  Great conversation piece.  We'll have to put a few vintage bicycles with it.  My creativity is flowing.  I took the photo before I had time to display it in the shop.   Also don't forget to check out the customer creation's link.  I add new photos as they come in.   That's it for today.  Have a great week.   Suzanne 

Tickets Available for Historic House Tour, Salem County, NJ

Just a quick post to remind everyone that the Salem County Historic House Tour is Saturday, April 25th from 10 am- 4 pm.  We have tickets at the Royal Port Antiques along with the booklets listing the homes and their locations.  Advance tickets are $15.00 a piece.  Tickets are available the day of the tour at the Historical Society at 83 Market Street.
