Renningers Mid-Winter Classic Antique Show

This weekend kicks off our first show for the year.  We will be set up at the Renningers Antique Show at the Convention Center in King of Prussia, PA.    This is a photo from our booth last year.  It's a fun show with a variety of Antiques and Collectibles.  This year our focus will be more industrial and architectural.  We will also be bringing along some signs, furniture and decoys.  The show schedule is Saturday 10am -6pm (8am-10am early buyers) and Sunday 10am -6pm.  We hope to see you there.  Email if you have any questions.  See you there.  Our next show is Kimberton, PA.   Suzanne

A Couple of New Finds at the Royal Port

Sitting at your desk or just hanging out at home saying to yourself,  Hmmm, I wonder if Royal Port got anything new?  Think no more.  Just wanted to add a few photos with more to follow in the coming week.   Finally, I decided to bring the beautiful Massachusetts cradle back to the shop.  Many of you may have seen it in the shop with a sold sign.  I just had trouble selling it.  Friends of ours talked me into bringing it home (G&G) so I did.  The problem is I couldn't give up my other New England Cradle.  As a result we were tripping over cradles.  Poor Sammy thought it was his new toy box and looked puzzled when it was missing and Bob the Builder was out a home.  It is a beautiful painted, hooded cradle in original paint.   Another new
 
and unusual piece is this encased mold.  Molds and gears are some of the most interesting pieces of wooden ware that we come across.  Their construction is so intricate.  I took shots of both sides of the mold.  This mold makes for a nice conversation piece as a 2 sided shelf or a large table centerpiece.   This week we have been cleaning up a lot of newly acquired architectural elements.  The ironware may have been part of an intricate porch detail.  We have 3 of the pictured pieces as well as some smaller details.  Some of the smaller pieces would look nice hanging up.  All of the pieces together could be used for their initial purpose.  We also have 3 of these great arched windows.  The photo does not show the beautiful surface on the window. They are very heavy and in nice condition. They would make a nice addition to a new construction or restoration project.  We have a lot more windows and doors as well as a beautiful chip carved mantel that I will be sharing photos of as we bring them into the shop.  Lots of cleaning.  For those of you who like butter churns we just brought in this nice barrel style.  It sits on 2 freestyle stands.  I think it had a sawbuck base in its early years.  We sold one similar to it that had its original base.   






And finally back for a repeat performance is the folk art painted tin rooster.  We sold it a few years ago and it's back again.  It sits on a nice iron base.  A nice addition to your folk art and county collection.  That's it for today.  I'll update you as we bring more of the architectural elements into the shop.  Suzanne                                                   

Royal Port a Featured Business in Mom Space Magazine!

The other morning we went to one of our favorite places for breakfast, Sweet Tomatoes Cafe in Woodstown.  After we sat down we were congratulated by the owner.  We looked at each other with a dumb look (well that's not unusual) and asked why.   She informed us that we were a featured business in the new Mom Space Magazine.  Each month the magazine does a featured Mom and two featured businesses for several counties in the area.  This was their first issue.  Royal Port Antiques and Sweet Tomatoes were the featured businesses for Salem County.  It's a nice magazine and website for Mom's.  You can grab a copy at the shop.  Thanks Mom Space.  Suzanne

Just a quick note to let you know we have successfully turned off our formal website and redirected the royalport.com link to our Royal Port Blog.   The blog is an easier way to keep you up to date on what is going on at the Royal Port.  It's casual, fun and allows our customers to be more involved.  (see customer creations)  The blog contains all of the same information that was seen on the formal site except it will be updated more frequently. Customers are welcome to submit comments or questions about our posts, send in photos for customers creations and submit ideas for the blog.  We are really excited with the direction we are taking to keep our customers more up to date on a weekly or eventually a daily basis.  You will be able to see new inventory as it comes into the shop.  Email if you have any questions.  Happy Valentine's Day.  Suzanne, Mike & Sammy

What's New in February at the Royal Port Antiques!

Mike and a I were busy yesterday unloading and laying out some new things to share with you.  You'll notice several nice doors used as backdrops in some of the photos.  There are 2 pairs as seen behind the jelly cupboard and the bench and several individual doors that came out of the same home.  They are in great condition.   The

bottom of the jelly cupboard has some beautiful details.  The log cabin quilt behind it is a perfect accent.  We used the double doors as a wall for hanging.  The 4 door painted paneled cupboard is a New York piece.  Framed out in the front and sides. The interior has painted shelves.  Nice for storage.  Would be a nice piece in any room.  The mustard painted tavern style table in front of it has breadboard ends and tapered legs.  Nice size.  I married it with some chairs we had in the shop.  For those looking for some yellow ware. I have been trying to find some.   We added a few larger mixing bowls and a nesting set as well as an unusual one with brown glazing and nice striping.  I thought it was unusual.  For those of you that are basket lovers We acquired this great gathering basket as well as a tobacco drying basket.  I haven't hung this one pictured up in the shop yet.  It actually looked nice on the grain painted blanket chest that is also new to the shop. The graining on this blanket chest is beautiful.  It has nice turned feet and an interior til.  We got in several nice trade signs.  This early plumber's sign is one example of what we have.  One great cupboard to the shop is this open top painted one door cupboard.  What a nice display piece for stoneware, pewter, decoys or whatever it is you like.  I had fun adding some things from around  the shop.   I love these wooden wagon wheels Mike found.  They are in great shape.  Need 2 more for a wagon or just hang up or decorate with on a porch.  They still show some signs of their original paint.  Another great  primitive piece is this lift top wood bin.  It has beautiful red paint.  I can't get Sam to try the vintage rocking horse yet.  He's just not sure about the spring action.  Cute piece.   If you are looking for some architectural pieces make sure you stop by.  We just put in 9 pairs of painted corbels.  All of the pairs are the same with a nice clover accent.  They are in good condition.   The double doors are also new to the shop.  They have beautiful panels on the bottom.  One of the doors retains early etched glass.  We also brought in some decorative ironware.  I will share some photos when we have it displayed.  Nice accent pieces for a porch or an interior.

And my final item of the day is for those that always wanted to hold services at home.  This is a great church pew.  You can seat your flock either way.  It flips over.  Hope you enjoyed seeing some of our new inventory.  Feel free to email with any questions.  Happy Valentine's Day.  Suzanne

Royal Port is On Facebook

Well I'm officially hooked.  I'm hooked on blogging thanks to Colleen and now on Facebook thanks to my Brother-in-law John Cooke .  I created it yesterday and have spoken to more people in one day.  It's another way to keep up with what's going on at the Royal Port.  Our new blog posts will appear on Facebook as well.  Just a quick note for those that find our blog through royalport.com.  In the next few days the website will disappear and the blog will be our main site.  You will be able to access the blog from the royalport.com domain as well as the royalportantiques.typepad.com domain.  This hopefully will be a smooth transition.  I'm becoming somewhat of a techy these days.  When the support tech asked me if I ever pinged? I said "excuse me".  (Gil and Joe, I know you will appreciate that)  In the next few days I will blog about some of our new inventory.  We picked up several pieces yesterday and hope to have some photos for you Wednesday. We got a little bit of snow last week and I wanted to share with you some of the great shots  Mike Allegro got of the building.  He's been trying to capture a snow shot for us for a long while.  He was out there perched on the bridge first thing in the freezing cold.  Enjoy the warmer weather this week.

Salvage & Son

Most people know February 2nd as Ground Hogs Day.  For us it is known as Sam's Birthday.   Sam is the Son in Salvage and Son.  He's our big helper at the shop.  I just wanted to share with our customers, who are very familiar with Sammy, some of the pictures from his birthday.  We went with a Bob the Builder theme which is one of Sam's favorites.   We had a great party on Saturday.  Uncle John held down the fort at the shop.  He had a busy day too.  Thanks Uncle John.  Sam's favorite part of his party was the cake.  It's has become one of his favorite words.

Royal Port's Latest Arrival in the Parking Lot!!!

As many of you already know we like the unusual.  And as many of you know it is always interesting to peek into our parking lot as you pass by.  When we owned King's Row in Mullica Hill, NJ we always prided ourselves on keeping the windows interesting for travelers going through town.   When we moved we lost our big windows but instead gained a big parking lot.  As a result we seemed to have also gained a new way of displaying our wares.  I call it our "Lot Appeal".  On any given day of the week you may find your eyes drawn to the lot.  We know you can't help but say " What the &[email protected]% are those people up to now?"  Sometimes I catch myself saying the same thing but I go with it or we wouldn't be married 17 years.  With all that said I must ask.  Have you seen the latest?  Salvage and Son (Mike & Sam) went to get it 2 weeks ago while I held down the fort.  Then came the comments.  What are you going to do with that?  I think your husband is losing it.  He's gone too far now.  Oh my God what is that?  And many, many giggles and laughs. (Todd, you know you were laughing)  I guess our "Lot Appeal" is working.  It's getting our customers to laugh, stop by to see us and just wonder what's next.  Well Mike had his calls all planned out.  Many of our customers look for outbuildings for their properties and Mike thought this would be perfect.  (I will share our history selling outhouses in a future blog)
It is a really nice corn crib.  The entire thing is screened in.  It could be used for many purposes.  You might think this would be one of those things we might have for a long time.   Think no more. We had a lot of inquiries and several people stopped.   The crib did sell and will be going to its new home soon.  Luckily it is not going too far.   Happy trails.  Suzanne
