Fun Day at the Old New Castle Show

As promised I am reporting back on our day at the Old New Castle Show.  It was a nice day with a nice breeze off of the water.  I took a few shots of our booth to give you a peek at some of the new things we brought to the show.  Sorry, the open cupboard sold.  (we still have a wonderful assortment of early baskets in the shop)The incubator got a ton of attention but did come home with us to the shop.  You can see the view of the Delaware behind Mike doing some last minute fluffing.  We had a great crowd of people and sold a lot of small things.  What brought the most attention at the show was one of Mike's Funky Finds.  It came from the Doll and Toy Museum in Mullica Hill. (they recently retired) Our friend, Todd Kibler from Country Antiques Two, Mullica Hill, NJ, couldn't resist.  He was the first to give it a try.  He wasn't the only one.  It is pretty neat with wooden peddles.  It did come back to the shop. It's a great parade piece.  Picture it 4th of July, decorated with flags and an Uncle Sam riding it.  Hmmmmmm...I do have an Uncle Sam Costume at home.

Are you looking for something to do on Sunday, August 24th?  We are bringing our antiques on the road to our next show in Historic New Castle, DE.  In its 21st year, the Historic Newcastle Show is an outdoor show on the waterfront in Battery Park.    Admission is $6.00 or $5.00 with a card. (we have plenty of cards at the shop) It's one of our favorites. The show is from 10 am -4 pm.  We'll be planning and packing all week.  If you're looking for something and are going to the show send us an email and we'll see if we have it.  Or go to the show and stop afterward at the shop. Peek at our New Inventory

I was trying to think of some fun things to blog about but we've been busy putting new inventory and rearranging.  So I thought the best thing to do was to give you a few peeks at the new things at the Royal Port. My favorite part of getting new things is rearranging and creating new spaces.  This 19th century 2 door cupboard is a great size with a nice amount of shelves for storage.  It was the perfect place for displaying our latest antique baskets and tall paneled shutters.  The 2 paint decorated plank bottoms are part of a set of four. We also just acquired a nice 2 door over 2 door 19th century cupboard.  Again, what a great storage piece for the kitchen, bedroom and wherever.  The piece in front is nice and deep and would make a great center island.  The top has a nice surface to work on.  Underneath has a deep drawer and storage space.  We have some of our smalls decorating the pieces.  When we get new things I wander around aimlessly from booth to booth looking for just the right pieces to accent.  One of my favorite new things is this old workbench.  We acquired it during our travels in Ohio.  The beautiful redware bowl that I had on it sold before I had a chance to take a picture.  This piece would make a great sideboard or even raised up, a long center island.  It has a great surface.  I also had to include some of "Mike's Funky Finds" as we call them.  Mike loves vintage. For those that love Breyers you can have your own sign.  The old workbench, although primitive would make a great work island.  The vintage shipping crates are great for stacking and storing.  Some of the graphics are neat.  And for those looking for a part time job, stop by for a Richman's Ice Cream hat.  (we also have 2 shirts)  That gives you a quick look at some of our new stuff.  Stop by and see us.  Our 4th Anniversary at the Royal Port is fast approaching Sept 13th & 14th.  Look for more information and a card in the mail.  Email if you want to be added to our mailing list.
