It has been a busy month so far at the Royal Port. I wanted to share some photos of our latest inventory. We have been searching for some nice stoneware and found 3 nice blue decorated jars. I love the floral decorations on two of the crocks as well the shape of the smaller crock. They are all in excellent condition. They are complimented by our Fall decor. I love the fall colors against the stoneware. Another great piece in the shop, that had it's debut at the New Castle Show, is this settle bench from the mid 1800's. We don't see too many of this style. Winterthur Museum has a beautiful one in their collection. This was a beautiful addition to our front entrance booth. The flax wheel and winder felt right at home near it. It has a graceful curve to the bench and to its sides. It would feel right at home in front of one of Salem County's early hearths. For those that have been looking for a large pewter
Also new to the shop is this 3 piece stained glass window grouping. The picture does not reveal the warm beautiful shades of color in the glass. The side shown is natural while the reverse is painted white. Another favorite addition is a brass double student lamp in beautiful condition. We currently have 2 in our inventory. Both are great examples of this style of lighting. That is all for today. I'll be tagging new things for the weekend and will add them to the blog. Stop by to see us. The shop is decorated for the season. We have some fun ideas for using antique items with your season's decor. Have a great Fall Season. Suzanne

We've been busy adding some nice inventory to the shop including several pieces of furniture and many smalls. This post is a nice sampling. One of my favorite new pieces is this pine jelly cupboard. It has a nicely dovetailed case and side panel details. The piece is in very good condition.
Complimenting the top of the jelly cupboard is a beautiful grouping of stoneware plates along with a small firkin and a beautiful bucket. I added the brush (which I love) which was already in the shop.
The child's desk is another piece I had fun complimenting with some new and old inventory. What a great desk for a child's room, kitchen or family room area. Add a stool and some books and create a private area for learning. (I'm surprised I didn't keep it for Sammy hmmmmm.)
Having a business and living in Salem County drew me to the oil painting sitting on the desk. It reminds me of all our local farming scenes. It is signed but I'm not sure if it was done locally. Probably done in the 30's or 40's on a canvas board.
Another great desk to the shop is this grain painted table top desk. It was probably used in one of our local businesses
in South Jersey. The interior has some small drawers with notations of a business. It also has a drawers for storage below. It's an overall interesting piece of business history.
In our architectural department comes this nice selection of early Pennsylvania door hardware. All appear to be in working order. Great for those restoring an early home. Early hardware is sometimes a challenge to find. We also acquired several nice hand woven splint baskets in varying styles. Photographed is one that I thought was unusual i
n shape. It is in very good condition and I believe to be from South Jersey.
Another great piece is this miniature blanket chest. Mike and I love boxes and chests. This pine dovetailed box is a nice miniature chest. It is in beautiful condition. It's ready to be added to your stack of boxes. And last but not least I can't forget to mention Mike's latest Funky Find. Although it's not a funky find but falls i
nto the category of Mike's heavy inventory. The heavier the better. This toledo scale is very nice. Needs a little adjusting. Be careful using it. It adds 50 pounds. That's worse than the Doctor's office scales. And not to worry, no one was hurt in the transfer of this piece from the truck to the shop. Did I mention it was starting to pour and I was on the bottom end of it pushing it up the ramp to the porch? It has a nice new home at the Royal Port. It's a great conversation piece as well as a nice scale collectible. Please stop in to see the fun new things. Also mark your calendars. September 12th and 13th we'll be having our annual open house weekend. Look for invitations in the mail or additional information on our blog or facebook. Suzanne

I was walking around the shop recently saying to myself "We have a nice selection of inventory that could be used for a coffee table setting". If you just purchased that new sofa or side chairs or are looking for a change to
compliment your existing pieces, you may want to stop by. One of my favorite styles is the cobbler's bench. We currently have three in stock. As you see pictured, each one is a little different design. Two styles were made with the leather seats and one with a deep
carved seat. The one pictured first is new to the shop. The carved seat allows space for books, magazines, candles, potpourri and much more. The second one is fun with the drawer and the divided top. The third one also offers a divided section and a leather seat.
In their day these were used for making and mending shoes. Chests as coffee tables...... In our living room and family room we use blanket chests in front of our sofas. (we grew up calling it the couch) Our shop is full of different chests to choose from. We offer painted chests as shown in
the photo of this blanket chest with the beautiful grain painted surface. They are great for storage. In those drafty winters in an old house it's great to open up the chest to pull out a warm coverlet. This red grain bin struck me as a great family room or outdoor room piece. A great place to stash old photos, games or toys when not in use.
It offers a choice for a clutter free room. The one pictured offers a bold red paint with a double lift top. A perfect height for those tired feet at night. The last chest featured is stained chest for a more formal setting. This is a great size. Again it offers nice storage space for all those unread novels, dvd's or decorations especially for the space deprived home. It's both beautiful and functional.
The unusual as coffee tables..... Over the years I've been in several homes where they've used some fun antiques for coffee tables. One example is the wagon. The wagon offers the same amount of table space.
A piece of glass could be added to create a display area for small collectibles. The one pictured is in great condition while still retaining the original paint and lettering. Benches as coffee tables..... My last favorite choice is the bench. The butchers bench pictured is a great
example. This was work height in its original form. What a great display area for antiques to compliment the room. The other example is a primitive painted bench for the smaller room. Perfect for a few things or to stack some books under. Both benches are new to the shop. These are just a few of the items in our inventory that can be used for a coffee table. We have many more benches, blanket chests and just the unusual. Stop by and use your imagination. Suzanne

We added two more step back cupboards to our inventory. This painted cupboard is a great kitchen or dining room piece. It has a nice amount of cupboard space and drawer storage plus a very pleasing color. I had fun decorating with some nice country pieces and a draped quilt.
Another nice step back is this smaller size two doors over two doors. It has a hint of red color. It was stripped at one time in its life. Nice display piece as well as great storage piece. If you are looking for a big cupboard now is the
time to stop in. We have a nice selection of different style step back cupboards with panel doors and glass doors. Also new to the shop are this great pair of raised panel shutters or doors. What a great statement they make as a backdrop.
I love the paint too. Mike and I have been adding a lot of new architectural pieces to the shop. We will be adding more in the next few weeks. My favorites to the shop are three barn slider doors in green and white paint. They had their debut as a backdrop at the Mullica Hill Show a few weeks ago. I love them in the shop. They make a statement on their own on a bare wall or as a backdrop to a nice country antiques setup.
The last item is a grain bin. It is a long narrow piece with some nice original paint. It's beautifully constructed with a breadboard end top. We have several very nice grain bins in various sizes. Some are refinished and most are painted. They are perfect for a foyer entrance, family room or mudroom. They make a nice bench and storage area for things you just want to tuck away from gardening supplies to the kids toys and games. Well that's it for today. Hope you are enjoying the start of summer. Stop in and see us or drop us a note if you are looking for anything. We are always willing to email additional photos of items posted or other items in the shop. Suzanne

We're excited about the summer season. The shop is in bloom with new things. We continue to constantly offer new inventory and creative and fun setups throughout the mill. We've added cupboards, chairs, lighting and great architectural. We put in several large cupboards/display cabinets. This step back one piece cupboard is perfect for displaying smalls with the doors open or closed. For those looking to create a kitchen of only cupboards this would be a great starting piece. With its cupboards top and bottom and 2 healthy size drawers it makes a great piece for any collections.
This 2 door glass top one piece cupboard is perfect for collections, books and could go in any room of your home or office.
The other large display cupboard is this one piece 2 glass doors over 2 glass doors with a nice arched accent to the top doors. What a great display piece. This one could also go in any room of a home or office.
I was looking around our shop at the many styles of chairs that we currently have in our inventory. We love chairs and have always had a large inventory of various styles. They vary from windsor, plank bottom, ladder back, balloon back. bootjackback, Ware and so on.. Some of the new sets include this set of 4 paint decorated balloon back chairs. They are beautifully painted and in very nice condition.
Pictured is one of six of another beautiful set of paint decorated chairs. These are attributed to the Ephrata, PA artist Heilig. They are a meticulously painted set of chairs in very good condition ready to settle themselves around a nice country table.
Another great piece to the shop is this 19th century low back windsor writing chair with a scroll seat. We don't see many of these. What a nice addition to someone's windsor chair collection. For those of you that stop by the shop you know
we pride ourselves on always having nice lighting. One of the nicest lamps we've acquired is this double student lamp with period shades. It was once an oil lamp converted to electric. A beautiful statement for any room. Another new favorite to the shop is this early
bakery shipping crate in yellow paint with stenciling. It is in nice condition. I took a shot of the entire display along with the beautiful Delaware Valley rocker, tinware berry pails on the grain painted mantel and the great 2 sided bicycle wheel carnival wheel. It's a fun setup.
To finish off the post is this over sized or double door victorian screen. It is in great condition with wonderful details and color. For any details on the items listed please feel free to call or email. Additional items added to the inventory include a dough box, several grain bins, several baskets, a lot of architectural as well as pewter plates, basins and chargers. I will post additional photos soon. Happy antiquing. Suzanne

We've been very busy adding new inventory to the shop. It was a busy April which left a few empty spaces. We can't have that. We just brought in this nice 19th century 2 drawer over 2 door jelly cupboard with a beautiful back splash. If you are looking for a jelly cupboard, we currently have six in varying styles and sizes in our inventory. Email us if you are looking
for a certain size or style. The dry sink pictured is mid to later 19th century. It is in beautiful condition. It was refinished at one point in its life. (for those young parents-to-be this one is a perfect changing table) We are always looking for nice mantels. This painted mantel is a classic revival style with columns and other nice details from the Robinson House in
Old New Castle, Delaware. Keep in mind we always have a nice selection of mantels from later 18th to early 20th century. These cast iron railings would be a nice accent in the garden or home interior. They are seperate pieces of the same design. They remind me of the old church communion railings.
When Mike brought them in I almost knelt down. Very nice details. If you are looking for a bench table this one has some great details. It's a 3 board top with 2 drawers. We haven't had many with drawers. It is in great condition. The set of 4 painted arrow back plank bottom chairs, with bird and floral stencil
decoration, go nicely with the table. The beautiful blanket chest with 2 drawers has beautiful original hardware, all dovetailed, in great condition and nicely done decorative bracket feet. The height of the chest makes it a nice addition to any room. The painted cradle is also new to the shop. It's a painted doll cradle with pin stripe decoration. Nice detail to the rocker ends. (for all my cradle fans out there this is a nice one) This is just a sample of the new things to start
the month of May. Stop in and see us. The Open House Tour was a great success. Hope some of you got a chance to see the beautiful historic homes in Salem County. If not, there's always the Yuletide Tour in December. Suzanne

We just brought in two fun items that I wanted to share with you. We at the Royal Port try to be up to the minute with posting new things. We don't want anyone missing out. We tell our customers all the time to check the site for new things. With the blog site it allows us to be more up to the minute reporting of new inventory. With Spring here you may want to get ready for the carnival season. This carnival wheel measures 42" in diameter. It is a large one probably from the first quarter of the 20th century.
Great bold numbers and paint decoration. Would make a nice focal piece for any family or game room. Another unusual piece that is new to the shop is this Advertising Roxy Theater
2 sided bike rack. Great conversation piece. We'll have to put a few vintage bicycles with it. My creativity is flowing. I took the photo before I had time to display it in the shop. Also don't forget to check out the customer creation's link. I add new photos as they come in. That's it for today. Have a great week. Suzanne

e've been busy adding new pieces to the shop. One of our favorite new pieces is this large 2 drawer over 2 doors mustard over red painted jelly cupboard. It would make a beautiful statement in any room. Sitting on top is this beautiful heavy woven splint basket in nice condition. You can get a feel for its size in the picture with the mustard
cupboard. Draped inside is one of 2 small doll quilts that are new to the
shop. For those that love architectural, one of our other favorite items is the gothic architectural piece that we feel was for a religious statue or crucifix. As I looked at our churches altar this morning I noticed the crucifix in a similar form. If you are looking for chairs we just brought in about 16 chairs in varying styles. We both love chairs. It
started when we had the coffee house in our Queens's Inn shop and had to ask many a customer to get up so someone could look at the chair they were sitting on. The rocker pictured is a nice Delaware Valley ladder back with a rush seat. Several of the
other chairs are beautiful rod back and butterfly back bamboo turned windsors. They are all in nice condition. They are not sets but would marry beautifully in any setting or as a side chair. Also pictured is this nice smaller size red painted dry sink. It is a very simple one door dry sink. This would make a nice kitchen storage piece, entertainment center as well as a nice changing table. (see an earlier post dry sinks as changing tables)
We put in a few pieces of stoneware including this 1-1/2 gallon blue decorated crock in excellent condition.
Also pictured with the red dry sink is a 5 gallon bristol glazed crock with handles. I love the handles. It is marked with the manufacturer on the face of the crock. If you are looking for an extra kitchen work surface or island, this 2 drawer over 2
door painted cupboard would be perfect. It would offer added storage and drawer space. And finally for those clock lovers is a self winding clock from the Self Winding Clock Co., New York. It appears to be in good condition less the battery power needed to wind it. There are always other things new to the shop that don't get included in my listings. Always stop by or let us know if you're looking for something. Suzanne
